Small-scale British farms produce the highest quality meat in the world. Sadly, it rarely makes it to supermarkets or butchers.
While free-range is more expensive than intensive indoor farming, and therefore, the meat is more costly for our customers, we believe it’s 100% worth it. Not only is free-range farming more ethical and ensures a higher welfare, but you can taste the difference. It’s no lie; happy animals make tasty meat!
Britain’s cheesemaking legacy spans back thousands of years, with the first processed dairy in Britain dating back to around 3800 BC.
In recent years, French and Italian cheeses have developed a reputation for being the best in the world. However, we believe British cheese deserves championing – There’s so much more to British cheese than your bog-standard Cheddar or Red Leicester.
British cheese is renowned for its intense flavour, partly thanks to the wonderfully rich pasture across the UK, which results in a complex microflora in the milk. That, combined with slow, ancient cheese-making techniques and traditional family recipes ensures an unbeatable flavour throughout our entire range of delicious cheeses.
With over 50 artisan cheeses available, we show the diverse range of cheeses from across the UK. From Yorvale, one of the three existing traditional Wensleydale recipes, to our more obscure varieties, like Capability Brown or Cuddy Cave, there’s something for everyone.
Even our more exotic cheeses are made right here in the UK. Yorkshire Pecorino, based in Otley is made using the traditional Sicilian recipe, but right here on Yorkshire soil, ensuring we support local farmers and their herds.
